Greetings!
As a teen, my first job was working with children as a summer camp leader at an elementary school day camp. Even though I mostly taught recreational games and arts and crafts, I know I made a difference in these children's lives and that felt amazing. By the end of the summer, these kids learned to work together harmoniously in team building activities. During the interim years since, I've taken a few detours in my career journey, such as working as a paralegal and freelance writer. Then, an unexpected U-turn presented itself and I began working with children again, as an English Learner Paraprofessional. It was so rewarding that I decided to pursue my elementary teaching certification with a bachelor's degree in language arts at Madonna University. Now that goal is within reach, in just three semesters, and I can't wait to inspire my own classroom of students in becoming lifelong learners.
This site serves as my capstone electronic portfolio for English 4950, a Senior Seminar course at MU. Capstone is defined, according to Merriam-Webster.com, as "the high point: crowning achievement." Therefore, the five Exhibits showcase my strengths and competencies as a language arts major. My best work, so to speak, in my academic and professional work. These Exhibits are organized by an objective stated at the top of the page, a description of the Exhibit, the Exhibit itself, and a reflective analysis, which states how the objective matches and fulfills the objective. Lastly, I've included a postscript page in which I reflect on my learning outcomes for this course. Thank you for visiting and feel free to email me with your comments or questions.
